Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849) was one of the great masters of Ukyo-e painting and printmaking during the Edo period. This view of Mt. Fuji is from Hokusai's famous Thirty-Six Views of Mt. Fuji series which he released in 1830. It brought him fame and great success at that time, and continues to be one of the most popular prints in the world to this day. Eight colors were printed (including the sky blend) to create this serigraph edition of 160 prints on cream paper. The image is 24" x 16." The archival cream paper is 30" x 22." Each print is titled and numbered in pencil.
